Sensei Jann Aki
Mr. Aki has been training for nearly 4 decades in Japanese Goju Ryu Karate-Do. He lives in Hawaii, on the island of Oahu. His primary instructor was Hanshi Gogen Yamaguchi.
Mr Aki began his training at the age of 11 years old in 1968 and has trained consistently since that time. He began teaching Japanese Goju Ryu Karate-Do in 1981 and currently owns four dojos, two in Hawaii and 2 in Australia (Melbourne).
Mr. Aki has traveled extensively throughout the world teaching his art and has also had the honor and priveledge to train under other noteables such as Professor Wally Jay, Sensei Tadashi Yamashita and Rodney Hu.
He is a 1997 inductee in the World Karate Union Hall of Fame as Instructor of the Year. He loves to share his passion for martial arts and enjoys meeting people from all over the world.
Sensei Aki hosst a Bi-Annual Seminar (Gasshuku) in Hawaii and invites teachers and students of all styles to come and participate in hopes of sharing knowledge and beginning life long friendships in budo.
Mr. Jann serves on the Universal Martial Arts Association's Board of Directors and is the style representative for Goju Ryu as well as the State Director for Hawaii.
He was most recently honored at the 2009 UMAA Hall of Fame as Master Instructor of the Year and awarded his 6th Dan in Goju Ryu.
