UMAA Offers the following certifications to women:

• Women's Self Defense
 
• Rape Prevention and Awareness

Self Defense
The women's self defense program is designed for all women that are interested in learning the techniques that will give them the ability to defend themselves against many different types of assailants. A martial arts background is not necessary or required. Men interested in learning or teaching women's self defense should also take this course.

This course is completed through a combination of written materials and videos. The written material provides women with background information and reasons why and how women are attacked. The video provides self defense techniques that are not only easy to learn but very effective in thwarting a potential assailant.

Once the techniques have been learned, the student will then prepare his/her own video showing how well he/she acquired the techniques of self defense and mail it to UMAA for evaluation. The student will receive a video containing corrections and instructions along with a full written evaluation of his/her progress.

Certification
The student must complete a written examination covering all the written material he/she has studied. The student must also pass the video portion showing he/she was become proficient in the required self defense techniques. Instructor certification will be mailed within 2 weeks after the satisfactory completion of all required tests.

Women's Self Defense Instructor Certification from UMAA gives you the recognition and knowledge needed to conduct your own women's self defense seminars and lectures. Increasing the number of women in your local area that are trained in self defense is a great way to diminish crime against women.

Rape Prevention and Awareness
To educate women how to be aware of their surroundings while learning home, street and travel safety. Students will learn about many different types of rape and rapists as well as defensive, escape and alarm techniques that have been proven successful against rapists.

This course is completed through a combination of written materials and videos. The written material provides women with statistics, information, and preventative measures such as chemical deterrents women can use to help avoid rape. The material will also provide in-depth tools for safety awareness and how to respond to an attacker both verbally and physically. The video provides defensive, escape, and alarm techniques that are easy to learn and have been proven to be most effective in thwarting a potential rapist.

Once the techniques have been learned, the student will then prepare his/her own video showing how well he/she has acquired the defensive, escape and alarm techniques of rape prevention and mail it to UMAA for evaluation. The student will receive a video containing more instruction and a full evaluation of his/her progress.

Rape Prevention and Awareness Seminars as well as Women's Self Defense and Domestic Violence Seminars are held every six to eight weeks at the UMAA International Headquarters. Please email or call us for specific dates if you are visiting our area.
