Kevin McGrath
Kevin McGrath Hanshi began his training with O’Sensei
Peter Urban at the Shanghai Dojo in Chinatown, NY in 1967. His lifetime
involvement and dedication have earned him the respect and admiration
of the Martial Arts Community far and wide. He holds Dan ranks in
a variety of Martial Arts systems as well as being an expert in Kobudo
(the use of Oriental Weapons).
He has earned many accolades in Martial Arts magazines
and print as well as participated in TV and movies. Being a “Man
of Dao”, he has also given back to his community by running
several programs and training others in his own school.
On November 1st, 2006, McGrath Hanshi achieved the rank of Kudan (9th
Degree Black Belt) and his title under Senior Shihan (10th Degree
Black Belt) E.J. Verycken, USGKA International.
This rank is recognized by the Most Senior Masters of Urban/USA Goju
Karate-do. McGrath Hanshi is a current member of the All American
Goju International Karate Foundation, is one of the highest ranking
members of the Board of Examiners for NEMAC, and certified Defense
Tactics instructor to the NYPD.
He is now the chief instructor to the Little Dojo Goju-Ryu Karate-do
school network, hard at work at training State and National Champions.
